I am an Attending Vascular Surgeon. I treat people with diseases of the arteries and veins. I specialize in carotid and aortic surgery; as well as procedures for leg arterial disease. I have extensive experience in treating conditions with minimal invasive or endovascular procedures such as angioplasty, stents/stent-graft, Silverhawk atherectomy, etc. I perform dialysis access procedures for patients with renal failure and varicose vein surgery including a large number of laser vein ablation procedures. I have a broad experience in treating wounds since I did research on wound healing during my training.

I am Board certified in Vascular Surgery and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons (FACS). I have been appointed as a Clinical  Assistant Professor of Surgery SUNY at Stony Brook. I am a member of The Society for Vascular Surgery, The Eastern Vascular Society, The Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society and The Society for Vascular Technology. I am also a qualified Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), which means I can perform and interpret non-invasive tests.

 

I was born in Limerick, Ireland and went to medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. I moved to the United States in 1990 and trained at John Hopkins Hospital and SUNY Stony Brook. I completed my fellowship training in Vascular Surgery in 1997 at the University of Maryland and have 10 years experience as a Vascular Surgeon.

 

I have published numerous articles in professional journals and given presentations on a variety of topics at medical conferences, seminars and to the public.
