When a procedure is booked with North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, the patient is given a procedure date and pre-testing date/time. The procedure may be done in the Main OR, The Ambulatory Surgery OR or in the Cardiac Cath. Lab. The instructions for each are outlined below. All insurance authorizations are obtained by my office prior to your procedure/surgery.

Main OR: The first appointment is with Pre-Admission Testing (phone #: (516) 562-2350). You enter the hospital at entrance # 3 main building-main entrance. Follow signs for "Pre-Admision Testing". Go to the left on entering; turn left on to the main hospital corridor; go past 2 sets of elevators and look for a  door on your left "Pre-Admission Testing". Enter here and register at the desk. The appointment takes up to 2 hours. A history and examination is preformed, lab work is drawn and an EKG and chest x-ray may be done. You do not need to fast. Bring with you a list of your medications with the doses, and or the medication containers. You must bring all your insurance cards an a picture ID. Also the name, address and phone number of your primary physician and all other relevant physicians should be available. Parking is available across from the main entrance or you can valet park (at your own expense - sorry!). On the day of your surgery you must 

be there 2 hours before the procedure. You will be advised of this time by Pre-Testing or by my office. Go to "Same Day Surgery" also called "SDS": Enter at #3 as before. Go left on to the main corridor; turn left and take the first set of elevators (Monti Elevators to the 2nd floor. exit and go right. Take the first left turn and go to the end of the corridor. Same Day Surgery is on the right. You register there and they should have your information/chart. There is a waiting area on the 2nd floor for your family. A beeper system is available so they can walk about if they wish. You may also leave a phone number with the staff in SDS and I will call after the procedure.

Ambulatory Surgery: The first appointment is with Pre-Admission Testing (phone #: (516) 562-8628). However this is not done in the main hospital. Enter at entrance #3. Go up the hill past the main hospital and go right at the fork in the road. Drive a short distance and you will see the Ambulatory Surgery Center on the right. Go to the main entrance and register there. Pre-Admission Testing is done in the Ambulatory Surgery Center.  The appointment takes up to 2 hours. A history and examination is preformed, lab work is drawn and an EKG and chest x-ray may be done. You do not need to fast. Bring with you a list of your medications with the doses, and or the medication containers. You must bring all your insurance cards an a picture ID. Also the name, address and phone number of your primary physician and all other relevant physicians should be available. Free parking is available in the lot outside the entrance. On the day of your surgery you must  be there 2 hours before the procedure. You will be advised of this time by the Ambulatory Surgery staff or by my office.  You go to the same entrance of Ambulatory Surgery and they should have your information/chart. There is a waiting area in the facility for your family. You may also leave a phone number with the staff in Ambulatory Surgery and I will call after the procedure.

The Cardiac Cath. Lab: The first appointment is with Pre-Admission Testing (phone #: (516) 562-2350). You enter the hospital at entrance # 3 main building-main entrance.  The appointment takes up to 2 hours. A history and examination is preformed, lab work is drawn and an EKG and chest x-ray may be done. You do not need to fast. Bring with you a list of your medications with the doses, and or the medication containers. You must bring all your insurance cards an a picture ID. Also the name, address and phone number of your primary physician and all other relevant physicians should be available. Parking is available across from the main entrance or you can valet park (at your own expense - sorry!). On the day of your procedure you must  be there 1 hour before the procedure. You will be advised of this time by Pre-Admission Testing or by my office. Go to "Admitting". Enter at #3 as before. Go to the right after entering the main hospital entrance. You register there and they will bring you to the Cardiac Cath. Lab. They should have your information/chart. There is a waiting area in the Cardiac Cath. Lab for your family. You may also leave a phone number with the staff in the Cardiac Cath Lab and I will call after the procedure.
