When a procedure is booked with North Shore Hospital Glen Cove, the patient is given a procedure date and pre-testing date/time. All insurance authorizations are obtained by my office prior to your procedure/surgery.
The first appointment is with Pre-Surgical Testing (phone #: (516) 674-7390. You enter the hospital at the main entrance. Follow signs for "The Ambulatory Unit". This is located on the 3rd floor next to ICU. Enter here and register at the desk. The appointment takes up to 2 hours. A history and examination is preformed, lab work is drawn and an EKG and chest x-ray may be done. You do not need to fast. Bring with you a list of your medications with the doses, and or the medication containers. You must bring all your insurance cards an a picture ID. Also the name, address and phone number of your primary physician and all other relevant physicians should be available. Parking is available in a special lot inside the main entrance - the code is given to you by Pre-Surgical Testing and changes every day. On the day of your surgery you must be there 2 hours before the procedure. You will be advised of this time by Pre-Surgical Testing or by my office. Go to the "Ambulatory Unit/ Pre-Surgical Testing". There is a waiting area in the main hospital lobby for your family. You may also leave a phone number with the staff and I will call after the procedure.
